My 5 days Indian trip

Went to an International Forensic Science Conference in India. The conference was done at Amity University. The organizers were very hospitable and I enjoyed my stay there. Here are some pictures which I took while I was there.

Son's project day

This year my son's school (Al-Hidayah) created a project called Universe. They wanted to show the greatness of the universe and its relationship to god. We attended the project exhibition open day and I think it was quite good.

Graffiti

Took th LRT to Kerinci on Tuesday and saw grafitti near the sewage walls of the main POS Malaysia. Quite beautiful. I think they should regulate it so that these youth can spray paint without worry and people can come and admire their work. What do you think?

Percentage of male babies delivered in a particular year was much smaller than usual compared to female babies or (3). they are interested to make money faster and so have entered the job market immediately after high school. What do you think?

Malaysian flag

Malaysia's 50 years of independce is just around the corner (31st August) but some have taken it to the extreme by not taking out the flag through out the year. This causes the flag to shread. Lets hope he changes it soon. FYI this a shop along the Shah Alam - Sungai Buloh road (The batu tiga road)

Malaysian manners

Went a train ride with my two small children yesterday. I was impressed with Malaysian manners, even though the train was full packed some would always give a seat to my children. I guess good manners will always be part of Malaysian manners... so for all you Malaysian.... be proud of your origin!

My Family day

After two-three years of absence of faculty family day, the administration decided to conduct an official family day. It all started at 8am and ended at 1pm. There were quite a lot of activites but unfortunately only a few faculty members attended the activities. But overall, a good start. Lets hope more will attend next year!

Roti Canai at Sagar Cafe

Went shopping with my wife at jalan tunku Abdul Rahman. Since we left early we did not have breakfast at home. We parked at Semua House and decided to have breakfast at Sagar Cafe (entrance ground floor, Semua House). The roti canai was good but they gravy (kuah) was a bit on the ''liquid' side. Have anyone tried to eat at this place? How is the rest of the food.

Jam and overheated car

if you decide to by pass jam through the new smart tunnel beware.... if your car is not maintained properly it might overheat. I found this the hard way when I was trapped in a Friday jam within the Smart tunnel. It seemed that hot air generated by all the cars are not efficiently taken out. So, hot air is trapped inside the tunnel. In summary if your car is old do't get studck in a jap in the new Smart tunnel.

School Holiday & Sunday farmer's market

It is school holidays again. Most people must have gone on holiday. This was quite evident by the lacking of customers at the Sunday farmer's market. Some usual stall were also empty.. I guess the famers need some rest and balik kampung.

Wife family gathering

Went with family to Cherating, Pahang again!. This time with my wife's family. Stayed at Berjaya. It was quite nice. The pool was BIG and they seaside was quite clean. My only complain is that my room's hot water was not working. Overall is a good place to take the family .. a little expensive but it is worth it. And if you have the time stop by at Natural batik to look at how batik is made. Here is a picture of one of process in making a batik.

My son the photographer.

Went to Seremban2, Negeri Sembilan for my sister in law's sister wedding (phew! .. thay was long to describe a relationship). Brought my new camera but forgot to charge the batteries. Finally decided to use the handphone camera. Persuaded my son to become the unofficial 'wedding photographer' for the day. Smart tunnel

Tried the new Smart Tunnel system in Kl. It was impressive. My only complain is that the road was very shaky... but then it was an impressive effort. Why don't you try it ...... it is still free.

House cooling

The house was hot for the past few weeks due to the drought hitting my area. After surfing around the internet I stumbled on an article describing how to bring cold air into the house while blowing hot air outside. This interest me quite a bit and after much googling I found an article on how to setup a ventilation fan. The whole cost of the project was RM180 and some heavy sweating. Took about one hour set it up but it was worth it. The house is now 1 to 2oC cooler. The only disadvantage is that I can't leave the ventilation fan on all the time due to it's high electricity consumption - 80 watt!. Now if only I find a way to harvest the energy of the sun to turn the fan ..... I guess that will be the next project?

Maid .. can't live with them nor can we live without them.

My indonesian maid entered into our family about five months ago. Her performance is very dismall.. a typical senario. The reason we took the maid was so that we can start to have children again. But after much consideration we found that she is not efficeient enough to handle children. We reached this conclusion from her interaction with two of our children. If we terminate her, we will be very tired doing housework during the weekend. So what do you think.. what should we do?

Donation

Went to our weekly Shah Alam farmers market (Pasar Tani). For the fast few years that I have been going there, I have found quite a lot of people have set up temporary 'stalls' asking for donations. This one seemed to attract my attention the most. He and his fellow colleagues haven been asking quite a sum to set up a religous school somewhere in the north of Malaysia. Are they true or just opportunist?

Turtle conservation in Cherating, Pahang is going strong. Unfortunately it cost money. If you happen to stop by at the the conservation centre why don't you stop by, see what they are doing and donate some money. Take note that they release the turtles at 10:30pm so make sure you stop by during that time.

Wife family day

just got back from my Wife's family day. It was really fun. Since it was done in Cherating, Pahang (Malaysia) it was a very long journey. The funny thing was we had a good streak and won quite a lot of prizes. Looking forward for next year's family day. I hope it is somewhere near KL.
